INFORMATION BRITAIN
The oldest biggest and best resource for all things British with hundreds of thousands of pages of Travel and History information.
HARVEST BRIGHTON & HOVE
Harvest Brighton and Hove is a partnership project which will co-ordinate a city wide, integrated approach to producing more food within the City. Harvest has brought together lots of different organisations interested in food who will help people in Brighton learn to grow their own, make use of surplus produce and eat more tasty local food.
MAKING LOCAL FOOD WORK
Making Local Food Work helps people to take ownership of their food and where it comes from by providing advice and support to community food enterprises across England. If you are involved in a community food enterprise or interested in starting one in your community, we may be able to help you.
SUSTAIN
The alliance for better food and farming advocates food and agriculture policies and practices that enhance the health and welfare of people and animals, improve the working and living environment, enrich society and culture and promote equity. We represent around 100 national public interest organisations working at international, national, regional and local level.
LOVE BRITISH FOOD
Love British Food is the leading national promotion of British food. It is unique in that, in a world where the promotion of British is governed by EU rules that prohibit the main farming organisations and the government from giving a clear ‘buy British’ to the domestic consumer, we are the only organisation that can advocate a strong ‘Buy British Food’ message. And we are the only organisation that can encourage retailers and the caterers responsible for sourcing food in our schools, hospitals and food outlets to make British food their preferred supplier of choice.
COMMON CAUSE
CO-OPERATIVE
Common Cause Co-operative promotes environmentally-sound community development, taking action to make locally-produced, sustainably-grown foods more widely available to all.
We manage Farmers' Markets, offer training and education in all aspects of growing and production from allotment to orchard to farm, and work to link consumers and producers with the aim of making locally-produced foods the easy natural choice.
LOVE FOOD HATE WASTE
Love Food Hate Waste is the ‘Waste Not Want Not’ of the modern day, providing handy tips, advice and recipes for leftovers to help everyone waste less food.
8.3 million tonnes of food is thrown away by households in the UK every year.
Reducing food waste is a major issue and not just about good food going to waste; wasting food costs the average family with children £680 a year and has serious environmental implications too.
If we all stop wasting food that could have been eaten, the CO2 impact would be the equivalent of taking 1 in 4 cars off the road
ACTION IN RURAL SUSSEX
Action in rural Sussex was established in 1931 as Sussex Rural Community Council and has worked with rural communities since then. Our vision for Sussex is that it is a place where an inclusive, active, community life is valued equally alongside economic success and environmental protection, and where all three are pursued together.
